Goals and objectives
The aim of the Wheatbelt Quit Smoking Program is to reduce the prevalence of adult tobacco use in the Wheatbelt by implementing evidence-based strategies and providing a supportive environment to assist adults with smoking cessation.
Strategies
A range of strategies have been implemented through the Wheatbelt Quit Smoking Program to facilitate smoking cessation and provide support to adult smokers. These strategies include:
- Facilitating support groups and providing access to the Cancer Council WA’s Fresh Start training sessions
- Providing smoking cessation information and advice specifically tailored to individual needs
- Providing support and encouragement to smokers using a motivational SMS and email messaging system
